Where did it all go wrong?

To be honest, it never started off very promisingly.

When Britney proposed to back-up dancer Kevin after a blink-and-you'll-miss-it romance in 2004, his former fiancee Shar Jackson was expecting his second child.

What's more, he couldn't even afford to buy his superstar girlfriend an engagement ring. Still she was prepared to give the former pizza delivery boy a chance - if only in the hope the troubled singer might find a smidge of happiness after the stresses of childhood fame.

But K-Fed quickly got on our nerves, squandering Brit's cash on cars and strippers, wearing ridiculous low-slung trousers and trying to launch a naff career as a rap singer.

When Britney first fell pregnant it seemed - for a moment at least - the relationship might actually work out.

But when she managed to fall pregnant twice in 21 months while Kevin was constantly snapped out partying, things started going downhill quicker than K-Fed's pants.

Here's a timeline of the fateful romance:
April 2004: Britney and Kevin hook up at Joseph's Cafe in Hollywood.
June 25, 2004: Brit proposes to Kev mid-flight on the way back from a tour of Ireland.
September 18, 2004 : The couple tie the knot in LA wearing his-n-hers "Pimps" and "Mrs Federline" tracksuits.
May 17, 2005 : Britney's reality TV series, Britney and Kevin: Chaotic airs. It runs for six episodes before being given the heave-ho.
September 14, 2005: Sean Preston born.
February 7, 2006: Brit criticised for driving with Sean Preston on her lap.
June 15, 2006: While her hubby is drawing attention for his non-stop partying, Brit tearfully tells Dateline NBC K-Fed is an "amazing" husband - they just need some space.
September 12, 2005: Jayden James born.
November 8, 2006: Britney files for divorce.
November 24 - 29, 2006: Britney parties all night with sudden NBF Paris Hilton.
February 16, 2007: A troubled Brit breaks out of rehab, hacks off all her hair, then celebrates her handiwork with a trip to a tattoo parlour to get some new ink done.
February 22, 2007: Brit's downward spiral continues and she checks herself into rehab three times in one week.
March 20, 2007: Brit checks out of rehab after completing a 30-day program.
March 30, 2007: Divorce settlement finalised.
