The problem with BlogRush is that people put the widget way down the page(to keep readers from clicking away,of course). That is the biggest reason click through is extremely bad, 90% of users never scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Not a single click from this thing and 1946 pageviews! My review of it is over and I’ve already deleted from my side bar but will leave it in this post. That’s it and once it’s off the front page it’s history.

When my wife saw it it on the site she said it’s in your face and could not wait for it to be taken off the site.

Hi Jason,

Some says JavaScript Badges And Widgets Considered Harmful.
But on behalf of the provider It has purposes: One of the purpose of these widgets and badges is drop in functionality. They donâ€™t want things to break. Less the implementor controls, the less that can break. Nobody wants to hold someones hands while they get used to the code. This is a good way on JavaScript badges and widgets.

And I think this free widgets could drive more readers to your blog. So I does make sense.

Yes it’s true javascript does slow your site down and you should try and limit the amount you use.
