It’s been a few days now since I went to the barber shop to get my monthly cut. While waiting “Inc.” magazine with a Twitter headline caught my eye and since my number one hate is wasting time I decided to have a read.

Initially when I picked the magazine up I was actually thinking it was a tech related magazine but in fact it is designed for the entrepreneur. I was so impressed with my read and the overall material I decided to pay for a subscription which was only $9.97 for twelve issues.

Yes, I know you can read thousands of websites for free on such material but there is just something about picking up a magazine and a cup of coffee and having a great read wherever the place may be at the time.

I’ve read the magazine from front to back now and the article that has moved me per say the most is the one about Evan Williams the founder of blogger that struggled his way uphill and eventually sold and made $50 million from Google. The funny thing is I’ve never actually looked into blogger’s background even though I am a techie and user of two years.

I since have explored William’s blog EvHead to read his mentioned post on “Ten Rules for Web Startups” which has become something of an internet standard and what he considers to be one of his best blog posts of all time.

Six important aspects I gained from his post:

1. Focus on the smallest possible problem you could solve that would potentially be useful.
2. Ideas are in the air. There are lots of people thinking about—and probably working on—the same thing you are. And one of them is Google. Deal with it.
3. One of Google’s biggest strengths—and sources of frustration for outsiders—was their willingness to say no to opportunities, easy money, potential employees, and deals.
4. User experience is everything.
5. Create something you want to exist in the world.
6. Yes, high levels of commitment are crucial.

Another article I found to be equaling as compelling was “How to Evaluate New Product Idea”

1. Tractability is partially about technical difficulty and much about timing and competition.
2. Is it clear why people should use it?
3. The most successful products give benefits quickly.
4. How many people may ultimately use it?
5. How hard will it be to extract the money?
6. Do you really want it to exist in the world?

What have I learned like any other net savvy person that is always looking for the next best idea on the net and “Yes Anything Can Happen” as long as the willingness to succeed is there!

In January 2008, Google dropped our PageRank from a PR5 to a PR4 for selling links but just today I noticed that we have been given an “authority listing” by Google for JaKel Daily. Is it a huge deal to have Google acknowledge that I’m the authority for information about ‘Ja Kel Daily’? To be honest I’m not sure – but I guess it’s better than not having an authority at all.

Similar to an “indented listing” (see below), an “authority listing” is a site which has received a significant of natural backlinks, total number of daily searches, and high quality linkback “authority” from other high PR sites, over a long period of time. Many of you already know that JKD started with fashion and celebrity blogging in February 2006 then following the Geektalk section in February 2007.

Buy 100,000 premium targeted visitors for the very low price of just $39.95 and increase site profits! Now you would think this sounds great after all it’s at a bargain price, but the sad truth is that the majority of the sites offering this service are complete scams.

Yes, of course they’ll deliver the targeted hits you’ve purchased, but the reality is that the actual traffic either doesn’t exist at all or it’s generated by software to create an illusion of unique visitors that comes from sources like auto surf sites. The truth is that it is near impossible to monitor & evaluate this bargain traffic to know if it’s real or not, and the fact is you have no way of knowing whether it’s targeted or just garbage hits.

What is the guarantee for putting your trust into these sites offering traffic that will supposedly bring you sales? I would have to say in my opinion 99.9% do not have any guarantee whatsoever that their traffic will result in more sales.   Â

Let’s think about this for a moment; say you have at your disposal my hypothetical offer above offering 100,000 premium visitors at the bargain price of just $39.95 would you actually be willing to sell your traffic off? Of course not if you actually have any sense at all because say you have just one product for sale on your site and you received a 1% sale ratio that would equal 1000 sales times lets say $19.95 for a grand total of $19,950.Â

Bottom line if it sounds too good to be true then more than likely it’s not. So do yourself a favor – If you’re thinking of purchasing traffic from one of these services, keep your money to invest in more reliable and proven options such as Google Ads.

As you know from my prior post on January 1st I’ve recently join the dot mobi domain craze nearly a year and half after the initial release to the public. Since there is an estimated 2.2 billion mobile devices in use as of today I think it would be a good idea to get ahead of the game and get your mobile sites into testing and operation before your competition.

I’ve purchased http://www.jakeldaily.mobi and http://www.celebrity-gossip.mobi along with a few others I intend to squat on until I find some motivated buyers. Even now this late in the game there are still a lot of great dot mobi domains left to grab up for long term squatting and selling off when the rest of the tech world catches on and gets into mobi web surfing.Â

When I initially set up our dot mobi website I used the site builder from dotMobi. Since then I’ve designed a basic dot mobi site layout and then decided to make the template available free for downloand by interested readers.

Our dot mobi site here.
A working demo of the free template here.
Download the free mobi template here.

Installation: download mobi.rar file and upload entire contents into a  folder called “mobi” that you create on your current hosting and then forward your dot mobi domain to the path of this folder. If you decide to get separate hosting for your dot mobi domain upload entire contents of mobi.rar file into the root folder “/”.

Money Note: If you are ineterested you can sign up for AdMob ads and then create a admob.php file so that you can start running targeted ads on your mobile site. My AdMob text ads are activated above “about” also there were not any requirements for site approval. Have a look at my dot mobi site to see the ads in action!

Enjoy the free template and good luck on your dot mobi site. The colors are easy to change in the style.css file and more sections can be added in the index file just copy one of the php files (about, contact, gossip) and then added the needed code to the new file.Â

The dot mobi domain era was initially opened 22 May 2006 by Mobile Top Level domain the company put in charge by the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Thousands of domain names were registered within the first day. For some including myself were not apart of this buying frenzy due either not being aware of it, or believed that is was not necessary to adopt a new domain for the mobile internet.

However larger corporations went ahead and registered their dot-mobi name anyway, because they wanted to protect their names from cybersquatters. Companies such as “Sedo” that choose to take advantage of the dot mobi craze cashed in by buying up a load of top desirable names. Here are a few top dot mobi sales (makes me sick I wasn’t up on this);Â

Flowers.mobi – $200,000

Poker.mobi – $150,000Â

Ringtones.mobi – $145,000

Sportsbook.mobi – $129,800Â

News.mobi – $110,000

Hosting.mobi – $101,000

Fun.mobi – $100,000

In 2006 mobile phone web surfing was almost known existent. Presently, going into 2008 it is estimated that 1.3 billion people are expected to be connected to the Internet via cell phones, according to research firm GSM Association.

Today nearly a year and half later I decided I would have a look at the bottom of barrel for a dot mobi address. To my surprise I was able to purchase a top level celebrity address that had not been snatched up yet, http://www.celebrity-gossip.mobi. Of course we also secured our dot mobi for our domain http://www.jakeldaily.mobi

I used the dot mobi site builder at http://mtld.mobi/ to create a mobile website. The site is straight forward and all information is given in detail steps to get your basic mobile site uploaded to your hosting.  To sign up for dotMobi site builder click here.

Register a .MOBI

1.With 2.2 billion cell phones in use today, mobile is the wave of the future. When you With 2.2 billion cell phones in use today, mobile is the wave of the future.

2. Protect your brand from competitors who might wish to take advantage of the name recognition generated by your popular .COM. This is also a great opportunity to enhance your brand by registering a related name—many generic words and phrases are still available!

3. Gain the option of launching a smaller, more concise companion to your main Web site that can be accessed via a variety of mobile devices, including cell phones, SmartPhones, Windows Mobile Devices, RIM devices and more.

4. Make it easy for people on the go to find you – anyone looking for your mobile URL will automatically guess yourpersonaldomainname.MOBI.Benefit from the worldwide recognition that .MOBI means mobile.

At the moment I do not have any intentions of developing our mobile page any further. To be honest if by chance a entertainment company shows interest and makes a reasonable offer we more than likely would sell the domain (just like the other .mobi adresses I’m marketing).

What are your thoughts on mobile web surfing?

Blogozette.com an idea I came up with some time back by joining the words blogosphere and gazette. A social network blog community gazette.

Blogosphere is a collective term encompassing all blogs and their interconnections. It is the perception that blogs exist together as a connected community (or as a collection of connected communities) or as a social network.

“Gazette“, by extension, has come to be used as the name of mainstream newspapers. The word comes from gazzetta, a Venetian coin used to buy early Italian newspapers; the coin became a name for the papers themselves.

Unfortunately, I never had enough time to go forth with the idea and have sat on the domain for a while now. So today I’ve decided it’s time to sell. Both the logo and domain are for sale now, no content! Make an offer by emailing me at admin@jakeldaily.com. It will go up for auction in two days time on SitePoint.Â

There are two basic areas for SEO. They are the black hat methods and the white hat methods otherwise known as organic search engine optimization. This article will delve into the better long term benefits of organic SEO.

When it comes to difficulty, organic search engine optimization is really not that difficult. There are a couple things that you should implement on your website and the link building is not all that hard to understand. You need to remember not to use unethical means to obtain links to your site so knowing the right way is vital. One way to get many links to your website is by obtaining them from other sites that are relevant to your niche by developing unique content for them to link to.

Search engine optimization is a process that is ever changing and evolving. With every day something new comes to the table, a new method of organic SEO. This changing information is what you need to stay in tune with in order to stay ahead of your competition. A good way to stay on top of this is through forums, news developments that are related to the niche, newsletters and networking within your niche.

Search engines need to see the relevance and importance of your site within your niche. Make sure that your site is easily accessible and navigable by the search engines. You want them to be able to explore the content of your website deeply. To facilitate that you need to design it in a manner that allows the search engine robots to easily get follow through the network of you site to explore the content.

A newer method of designing websites uses a cascading sheet style that is more transparent to robots which makes it easier for robots to read the content. But don’t forget that you need to have optimized content there for the robots to read. The content should have keywords that are relevant to your niche that the spiders can feed on. The more they see your sites relevance to your niche, the higher they will place you in the search engines. Content and keywords will get you to the top of the search results. That is where any site that does business on the web wants to be.

If you don’t have a thorough understanding of how to best implement organic SEO techniques there are companies that can assist you with it. A professional will be able to assist with the generation of content that is unique to your niche and bring visitors to your website.

Hiring a professional is not absolutely necessary though. If you have a knack for writing and are well versed on your industry you can easily generate interesting articles that other interested web surfers would want to read.

Keep in mind that you should understand prior to writing the content what words and topics that you really want to emphasize.

They need to be within the content of your site for the spiders to read and understand the relevance to your topic. Whichever method you use be diligent in the pursuit of your goal. That is being top internet resource for the niche you’re serving.
