What is video blogging? Blogging + Video = Vlogs, Vlogging, Vlogger

Seems somewhat inevitable that video blogging has come to be the next step by bloggers that have endlessly hacked away at the keyboard post after post on every subject none on the net. Video blogging is definitely the next level (trend) of web self expression.

It was back in September that I redesigned this blog integrating the entertainment, forum and vLogs sections. I have yet to find time to upload my first video blogging post but I have now decided to make an effort. So to get the vlogs section started check out our Vegas Skydive!

A video blog, sometimes shortened to vlog is a blog that comprises video. Regular entries are typically presented in reverse chronological order and often combine embedded video or a video link with supporting text, images, and other metadata.

Vlogs also often take advantage of web syndication to allow for the distribution of video over the Internet using either the R.S.S. or Atom syndication formats, for automatic aggregation and playback on mobile devices and personal computers (See video podcast). Though many vlogs are collaborative efforts, the majority of vlogs and vlog entries are authored by individuals. (Wikipedia)

Iterations of vlogs could include:

Informative Blogging

Amateur Films

Video Diary

Training On Anything

Artistic Expression

Documenting Many Choices

The Family

Your Favorite Blank

Video blogging has revolutionized the web as we know it giving the potential for anyone to self-publish and share it with the world.

“When you have Hollywood and major media as a filter, they’re going to do what appeals to millions rather than thousands,” Sharp said. “It’s just not cost-effective for them to produce a show about the didgeridoo (for example). That’s what the internet has changed — you can find stuff and market it ridiculously cheaply.”

Some vlog content is even making the leap to television!

Some critics out there voice their opinion and feel that blogs based around static images and the sometimes badly written word may have some problems making the move to the highly produced world of television.

I on the other hand I think that bloggers are doing an excellent job of making the transition successfully. Just to mention a few blogs to hit the TV market : TMZ.com, PerezHilton.com, The Smoking Gun and Blog TV.

Yes, it is true on the other hand technology sites such as; CNET TV, ZDTV and TechTV had a much harder time passing for TV media. Just stick blogging and vlogging and cross the TV bridge when they lower it and invite you over.  Â

Is video blogging right for your site? I think it will give a great person touch to your site and with a little trail error it could possibly open the door to some great future success.Â
