Increase AdSense Earnings 600 Percent
March is officially over now and April is under way…sorry no April fools joke here. Now getting back to the making money online, March was our most successful month in the terms of AdSense profits. I know that many of you have read too many times that it only takes a minor adjustment to increase Google AdSense by 600% or even more.
Well this was the exact case in with our site. I had been reading and listening to so many others when it came to recommendations as to what AdSense ad is the most profitable and for many they are placing the ad within the post itself. I had been using this method for many months without success and basically I was just under the impression that our site was not receiving enough page impressions to reach higher profits.
Starting in March I decided to make a few changes on our site; I figured out how to ad background color to the side bar section and I changed our AdSense ad size to the (160 x 600 side bar) (300×250 side bar). The results: average 600% increase in daily profits with a round about estimates of CTR 3.25% and eCPM $5.42. The morale of the story here is do not listen to what works best for these “A List†bloggers keep testing your site and then test some more because what’s successful for them will not always be the case for your site.
MARCH 2008 BLOG REVENUE REPORT:
Private Ad Sales: $2050.00
Google AdSense: $2193.54
Affiliate Sales: $124.47
Site Reviews: $525
Text Link Ads: $542.45
Total Revenue: $5435.46
Blog traffic for March was 165,926 page views from 75,421 unique visitors, according to Google Analytics. The operating costs for the month of March came in at exactly $11.03. The breakdown of operating costs: Hosting $3.33, Café Press $6.95, Domain $0.75. The Café Press online store is the biggest monthly expense and it’s not a money maker but I keep it open for when readers feel inclined to purchase some JKD souvenirs.
Many of the regular readers have noticed a drastic decline in the amount of posting that the “GeekTalk†section actually gets updated and I wanted to note on this while I’m at it. In the beginning of March I’ve moved my efforts and time towards Affiliate marketing mostly due in part that the success of the “GeekTalk section is near to none existent, only accounting for 10% of revenue and traffic for JKD and an astonishing 90% comes from celebrity/fashion related searches.

I remember having a similar moment after switching up the AdSense on a particular personal blog. It was a combination of “Oh my god this is awesome” and “I am so stupid for not trying this sooner”, but from then on I was able to do similar with all my blogs.
It seems like there are a few major hurdles in earning money online, and when you pass one it’s an incredibly cool feeling.

You’re doing some good numbers.. I think (however) you’d be doing better if you put a medium rectangle ad inside with your text (perhaps float it to the left)… I’ve always done best with this setup.

I think adsense placement, etc. is all about trial and error. I’ve tried the “recommended” adsense placements on my sites and have found that it doesn’t necessarily work for all. Congrats. Your revenue statement has encouraged me to get more on the ball with blogging.
Congrats. You are getting a higher percentage out of adsense than I thought was possible. I find it funny that in the comments on this post there are suggestions on ways to tweak what you have done. Did these people not see the CTR of 3.25%?

$5435.46 is really a great amount for 1 blog. I am now trying to accomplish that too but it sure its hard. You really have to put many times and effort to do that and it took maybe months or even years.
doing is much different than writing, i had never seen any blog which earns around 5k / month.

Our old layout consisted of placing adsense ads within the posts. The click through rate and eCPM was much lower and not the mention I had always felt the ads got in the way of the actual article. The 160 x 600 is out of the way and daily profits are great.

I recently changed from 3 different ad units to only 1 on one of my sites and ahve seen a huge increase in my CTR and PPC. It just takes time and messing around with it to find what works best.

That is some drastic, FANTASTIC improvements man. Congrats. I find that I tend to settle for what I’ve done in the past and think what a pain it is to move things around. But when you actually make changes for the better you realize it was not so difficult and you could not image having not taken those steps.

Hosting was not as expensive as you think nowadays, try to search in google and you will find such hosting company. For example namecheap charge only $2.91 for their basic hosting

To make money online is a large percentage of today’s population goal in the recession that is upon us. Small business owners and most major companies are looking to make money online too. With webhosting ranging from 6.95 to 20 dollars per month start up cost and monthly fees are far less than running a brick and mortar business.

With my Adsense sites I always spend a lot of time working out what will give me the best CTR. Some sites do a lot better than others even although I’ve used the exact same theme. Just keep working at it.
I know that paid optimization is essential part of organic optimization. By it, we can increase our chance to get better result in SEs as well as conversion rate.

There is a ton of money to be made in adsense — and yes, you are completely correct. I’ve personally done the same minor changes regarding ad sizes… as well as a few of my friends — same results, always a huge jump in earnings!

Its surprising how simple changes can impact your clickthrough rates.
Sometimes I’ve found just changing the ad headline color to match the same color as my post headlines can dramatically increase the clicks.
The less you make it look like an ad, and more like a proper link, the more clicks you seem to get.
I would absolutely love to get 5,000 a month. Thats good money.

Your transparency has to be applauded. That’s a nice monthly revenue. Experimenting is key with Adsense, you may think you’re doing alright, then make a small change and boom, increased earnings. It’s one of those things…
You should skip the middle man (Adsense) and try affiliate marketing. You might earn much more selling products directly.
This should prove to bloggers that they need to be testing their layouts and such. What works on one blog may not work on another. There are many little variables such as font size and color that can have a huge impact on your bottom line.

I think with persistence and dedication, anyone can achieve as high of numbers (if not more) depending on the niche they target and how much work they’re willing to put in. No one said it was easy but it IS doable!

Simple math shows you get about 2500 uniques a day. Very impressive. I don’t know if it will be possible to draw that many daily viewers to my niche of a niche knitting site. Currently I’m at about 50 per sitemeter, but I’ve only been on WordPress for two months. My previous blog via iWeb had horrible SEO.
I would be flying high if I could earn your monthly ad revenue. It would pay my kids monthly college bills.

You showed us great results. But you should understand that it doesn’t possible to increase adsense profit on 600% every month. Anyway this is very very nice.

Seeing your results can bring us all some hope for the future. I’ve been designing a lot of mini sites lately that are focused on very small niches but a reasonable amount of daily targetted visitors. I do fairly well on my primary domains but I decided that if I also have 100 mini sites that are all SEO’d properly and generate an average of $25.00 a month, that still places me in a good position extra earning wise.
And what better support 100 mini sites or 1 big project?

I keep tweaking my adsense also. A couple of my sites get over 20% CTR but I have a few others, which all look very similar and they get well below 10% CTR. I think that a lot of it is down to the subject been search and whether a large amount of research is required to get the answer the surfer is looking for.

Most successful Google Adsense formats for me are 336 x 280 and 250 x 250 that I use on most of my websites to earn money using Google Adsense widgets

You can duplicate his success with a bit of link building. It can be tedious but it is agreeably worth it.
