Personally, I really hate having to click to read an article. Remember that <a href="http://www.communityspark.com/web-users-are-lazy/" rel="nofollow">web users are lazy</a> - making them work (even if it is only through an extra click) to read an article will only encourage them to go elsewhere.

Yup, I am firmly in the John Chow camp on this one - display the full article on your index page.

I always use "more" tag on my blogs. It actually makes homepage look cleaner (at least for me). And if a blog has a lot of longish posts, I really don't like to scroll down for 5 minutes just to find what I want.

The problem with "more" tag in the latest version of Wordpress is that it carries through to your RSS feed. So now instead providing full, you are providing only partial feed. And that is really bad thing (for me and many other readers). I actually unsubscribe from most partial feeds.

The way to solve this is to install "Full text feed" WP plugin:

I think many readers may find it annoying. I guess it depends on the blog. If it is a blog I regularly read (and want to read) I don't pay much attention.

If it is a blog that I am visiting for the first time, I get annoyed.
